Board Games

I guess I sort of lucked out that my siblings all had kids before me. We get a lot of their hand-me-down things--clothes, toys, games.

My sister's family has the best stuff. I don't know how she does it, but every article of clothing we've gotten from her looks brand new. She's given us so much stuff and saved us so much money. I'm pretty sure I haven't gotten one pair of snow boots in the 11 years I've been a parent!  ( okay, there was one year where I didn't have the right size for Tommy and I had him in white, girly snow boots....but we were in the back yard. Who was gonna see??)

Last week we got 2 boxes of old board games from my sister's family. Even though my last post talked about purging our toys, board games are always welcome around here. Check out this stack of stuff:

All in their original, perfectly un-crushed boxes. ( A feat I have never been able to accomplish in this house )

I had been hearing so much about Zingo that I was going to ask Santa to bring it, but there it was! My boys love Risk..they play it with their Uncle Tim whenever we visit Gran and Gramps' house. And Lite Brite-a timeless classic. I always wanted one of those as a kid, but my Mom wouldn't let me have it. "Too many pieces" I remember her saying. Last night Billy, Mary Kate, and I played Deal or No Deal. We had so much fun.

These games are worth their weight in gold if you ask me; and the time spent with each other playing them--golden!

What do you think? Do you have a favorite childhood board game?
