Day One - Powder Room Redo

The time has come.   It's long overdue.

After living here seven years it's time I bring our powder room into the 21st century.

Here are some before photos:

Yes, that was wallpaper on the cabinets, in case you were wondering.

So today I asked Matthew if he'd like to help me pull off the wallpaper.  He was more than happy to oblige.

After an hour of not getting very far, I remembered we had a steamer in the garage.  I watched a how-to video, and then I knew exactly what to do.  Matt poured in the water and we got back to work.

And this lovely color was underneath....royal blue painted on with the sponge technique.

Hello 1989!

The steamer works like a dream.  We had fun.  More demolition tomorrow.

  1. Oh Kathleen - your bathroom looks like it coordinated with our kitchen in this house when we moved in! Our kitchen & kitchen eating area had a lovely bird print wallpaper and a chandelier with birds on it! The chandelier did not give off much light. So it had to go! We had wall paper in our dining room and piano practice room! Good luck! I am anxious to see more photos!

  3. You are brave. I tried removing wall paper once and it did not go so well!

Can't wait to see the finished product!
