LOVEly Weekend

How sweet it was that our Valentine's Day fell on a 3 day weekend for Bill and a 4 day-turned-5 day weekend for the kids and me.  There was snow and ice on the ground this morning, so we are off today.

Our weekend was a fun one.  We traveled to see Bill's 95 year old grandmother.  She's as beautiful as ever.  Oh, that smile lights up her whole face!

Afterwards, we went out for pizza back in our hometown of Upper Darby, Pa where I grew up.  Pica's is the BEST pizza.  Just ask Tina Fey.  (She too, is an Upper Darby girl)

We asked Bill's brother Tim and sister Jenny to join us.

Saturday night we hit the roller rink.  The only picture I got was this one of Bill, but it's a gem.

Sunday morning before mass, we enjoyed pancakes and the kids opened up their Valentines.  Candy was replaced by clever religious tees.

During the day we kept finding little notes left by Mary.  She's so sweet, that girl.

Bill and I decided to buy a new mattress for our bedroom this Valentine's Day.  I suppose that could be considered either very unromantic or very romantic, depending on how you look at it.

Happy Tuesday!

  1. Well, that was a lovely weekend, indeed.
    I just love your family!
That pizza is making me hungry!!!! : )
We have the snow and sleet and rain and ice here today.
    Go groundhog! : )

  2. Looks like you had a nice weekend. Love, the notes from Mary!!

  3. I always love seeing pictures of what you guys are doing. And Mary??? Well, she is THE BEST!!

  4. Ha ha! Great post humor here ;)

Great grandmother...wow! That is so amazing. How many kids get to see and visit their great grandmother??!! The visit made her year most likely.

Your hubs on the cycle. Classic! Ha ha ha.

The gifts were very creative and unique for each. Awesome!

Hope you are having a great week!

  5. Hi Kathleen! How lovely of you to visit Bill's grandmother. I bet it was the highlight of her week! I hope she's doing okay? I see the oxygen tube there.
Great idea with the tee-shirts! And Mary really is a treasure, perking up everyones day with those fun notes :)

My husband and I went out for breakfast for Valentines Day. I'd much rather have a new mattress! I'm pretty sure ours is the original, and I told my husband we really need to get a new one. He's on board, so I don't know if you decided if it's a romantic gift or not...but I'm jealous!!

  6. Thanks so much for coming to see Mom. She is doing so much better! Took a walk today. Turns out that after her fall last month, they gave her medicine that was too strong, and that is why she suddenly was so ill. Thus, the crisis! It was wonderful that you all came to visit. xo

  7. So many happy moments - I love the picture of your family at the breakfast table :) Mary's notes are very sweet and clever.
